How did you get started with fitness and training?
I’ve always been active since I was a kid with soccer, football and various martial arts.
It wasn’t until I joined the army that I became serious about weight lifting and getting the biggest I could naturally.
In the military we do so much cardio though so getting huge kinda fell by the wayside and developing a more functional, athletic and durable body became my passion. My goal was to maintain a muscular build while still being able to run 10 km and carry out whatever task was needed at the time.
Where does your motivation come from?
Believe it or not, the funniest thing about my motivation is that it all originated from watching dragon ball Z as a kid and wanting to be like Goku, the main protagonist from the series.
As funny as it may sound, he did have some very unique attributes that I wanted to embody as an adult, things like strong character, dedication to friends, family and training, a strong moral compass and an unwavering belief in himself, never giving up and striving to be the best he could be. These are the things I took from that cartoon and tried to instill in my own life. Yes I know it is a cartoon and that ill never fly or shoot fireballs from my hands, but most guys in my age group know what I’m talking about and whether they admit it or not, feel the exact same way…especially after taking a pre-drink and hammering out a good chest day haha.

What’s your current training philosophy?
Never be satisfied, always do your best and then the next day go back and smash your best. Be better then you were the day before.
What workout routine has worked best for you?
A high rep moderate to heavy weight program works best for me, Im used to moving heavy stuff repeatedly in the military so it kind of just translated into my workout regime. That being said I like to change it up a lot just to keep my body guessing and to challenge myself every time. if your not challenging yourself then your just wasting your time
What does your diet consist of? – What would you eat on a typical day?
I eat a high protein, fat low carb diet.
I’ll have a high carb and protein meal at break fast then ill do just protein and fats throughout the day and an hour before a workout ill have some carbs.
Do you stay lean all year round or do you bulk and cut?
I try to stay lean all year round within about 10 – 15 pounds of stage weight. Im fit for a living.
I think as an ambassador for the fitness lifestyle you should look and live the part whether your on stage or not.

If you had to pick only 3 exercises, what would they be and why?
- Squat – you gotta have legs other wise it’s like driving a truck with motor cycle tires
- Pull-up – such a great way to build your back with all the different variations
- Push-up – Girls like a nice chest/ tri-cep combo
with these three workouts you could essentially train most of your body and maintain an all around physique with a little tweak here and there.
Three tips you’d give to someone who’s trying to reach their goal physique?
- EAT, EAT, EAT – you can’t grow if you don’t eat right or eat enough.
- Train you ass off – no one ever got anywhere only going half way.
- Rest– it’s great to be passionate and want to be the best, but if you don’t let your body rest once and a while, it will never respond the way you want it to.
Always stay hungry, stay healthy, be a gentleman, believe strongly in yourself and go beyond limitations.
